Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? See below to find out more about Ahaora Care Brokerage

1. What is a care brokerage?

A care brokerage is an independent service that helps individuals and families identify suitable care providers without delivering care directly.

Ahaora Care Brokerage gathers your stated requirements and identifies appropriate CQC-registered care providers (including care agencies and care homes), and facilitates structured introductions so you can make informed decisions.

We do not assess, plan or deliver care. All regulated activity remains with the CQC-registered care provider.

2. How is Ahaora Care Brokerage different from a care agency?

A care agency delivers regulated care services. This includes, but is not limited to, hands-on support such as personal care (for example washing, dressing or toileting), mobility assistance, medication support and other day-to-day care provided in someone’s home.

These services are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

Ahaora Care Brokerage does not deliver care and is not registered with the CQC.

We operate independently to support introductions, communication and administrative coordination, while you retain full control over which agency you choose.

3. How do I arrange care privately?

Arranging care privately usually involves identifying suitable care providers, contacting multiple care agencies or care homes, explaining the situation repeatedly and comparing availability, services and costs.

Depending on the circumstances, this may involve arranging care at home, live-in support, short-term recovery support or a placement in a residential care home.

Because each provider operates differently, individuals and those supporting them are often left trying to determine which options may be appropriate while managing communication with several providers at once.

Ahaora Care Brokerage helps simplify this process by gathering your requirements and preferences once, identifying suitable CQC-registered care providers (including care agencies and care homes), and facilitating structured introductions aligned with your circumstances.

4. Who can help me find the right care provider?

Finding the right care provider can be difficult because there are hundreds of care agencies and care homes, each offering different services, availability and pricing structures.

People arranging care, whether for themselves or for someone they support, are often left trying to determine which providers may be suitable while contacting multiple organisations and repeating the same information several times.

Ahaora Care Brokerage helps simplify this process by identifying appropriate providers based on the requirements shared and coordinating introductions so suitable options can be explored more efficiently.

Ahaora Care Brokerage introduces individuals, families and authorised representatives to CQC-registered care providers, helping bring structure and clarity to what can otherwise be a complex process.

This allows you, or someone helping you arrange care, to consider appropriate options with greater clarity, without needing to contact numerous providers individually.

5. What is the difference between Ahaora Care Brokerage and a care directory?

Many online platforms operate as care directories or comparison websites, listing large number of care providers and asking individuals or families to contact providers themselves.

While directories provide listings, they often leave individuals and those supporting them responsible for contacting multiple providers, comparing responses and managing follow-up communication.

Ahaora Care Brokerage operates differently.

Rather than simply listing providers, we gather your requirements, identify suitable care providers and coordinate introductions aligned with those needs.

This structured approach helps reduce confusion, repetition and delays during what is often a stressful time.

6. What types of care can Ahaora Care Brokerage help arrange?

We can facilitate introductions for, but are not limited to:
  • Domiciliary (home) care
  • Live-in care
  • 24-hour support
  • Overnight care
  • Short-term or respite care
Under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, personal care delivered in someone’s home is a regulated activity and must be provided by a CQC-registered agency.

We introduce you to CQC-registered care providers (including care agencies and care homes).

7. How much does care cost in the UK?

The cost of care in the UK varies depending on several factors, including:
  • the type of care required
  • the level of support needed
  • the number of care hours per day
  • the location
  • whether care is provided at home or in a care home
For example:
  • Hourly home care is often charged on a per-visit or hourly basis
  • Live-in care is typically charged weekly
  • Residential care homes charge weekly fees depending on the level of support and accommodation
Because every situation is different, care providers normally assess an individual’s circumstances before confirming availability and pricing.

Ahaora Care Brokerage helps simplify this process by identifying suitable CQC-registered care providers aligned with your requirements so you can receive accurate information directly from providers able to support your situation.

8. How quickly can care be arranged?

The timeframe for arranging care can vary depending on the level of support required, provider availability and the individual’s circumstances.

In urgent situations, such as hospital discharge, suitable care providers may sometimes be identified within hours.

Ahaora Care Brokerage helps accelerate the process by identifying appropriate CQC-registered care providers and coordinating introductions promptly so arrangements can be explored without unnecessary delay.

9. Can I arrange care for someone else?

Yes.

Care is often arranged by someone supporting the individual, such as a family member, friend, attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney, or another authorised representative.

Ahaora Care Brokerage works with both individuals seeking care and those helping arrange care on their behalf.

10. Do I need a care assessment before arranging private care?

Care providers normally carry out their own assessment before confirming or beginning care arrangements.

This helps the provider understand the individual’s needs, preferences and practical circumstances before delivering care.

Ahaora Care Brokerage does not carry out care assessments. All assessment, care planning and regulated activity remain the responsibility of the CQC-registered care provider.

11. What happens after I contact Ahaora Care Brokerage?

Once you contact us, we will guide you through the next steps in sharing your requirements and preferences.

This allows us to understand your circumstances, the level of support required and any practical considerations.

From there, we identify suitable CQC-registered care providers and facilitate introductions aligned with those requirements.

You remain free to decide whether to proceed with any introduction.

12. Is there any obligation to proceed after contacting Ahaora Care Brokerage?

No.

Contacting Ahaora Care Brokerage does not commit you to any care arrangement.

You are free to explore your options and decide whether you wish to proceed with any introduction.

Our role is to help you understand suitable options so you can make informed decisions at your own pace.

13. How do you handle my information and who sees it?

Protecting personal information is a core part of how Ahaora Care Brokerage operates.

Information shared with Ahaora Care Brokerage is handled in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). We only collect the information necessary to understand the circumstances and facilitate appropriate introductions to care providers.

Where an introduction to a care provider is requested, only the relevant information required for the introduction process is shared. Care providers obtain full identifying and detailed information directly from you or your authorised representative as part of their own assessment process.

Information is never distributed widely or listed on platforms. It is only shared in a controlled, limited and proportionate way with appropriate CQC-registered care providers where an introduction has been requested.

Care providers remain responsible for their own regulatory obligations, including obtaining and verifying full information during their independent assessment process.

14. Can Ahaora Care Brokerage help during hospital discharge?

Yes.

Where privately funded care needs to be arranged, Ahaora Care Brokerage can support prompt introductions to suitable CQC-registered care providers aligned with the requirements and preferences shared with us.

This provides a clear pathway for arranging care privately.

15. Do I need to contact multiple care providers myself?

No.

Ahaora Care Brokerage contacts suitable CQC-registered care providers based on the information you share and coordinates introductions aligned with your circumstances.

16. What if my care needs change over time?

Care needs can change over time as circumstances evolve.

If care requirements increase or decrease, the care provider will normally reassess the situation and adjust the care package where appropriate.

If you wish to explore alternative care providers, Ahaora Care Brokerage can facilitate additional introductions aligned with your updated preferences.

All care assessment, care planning and care delivery remain the responsibility of the CQC-registered care provider.

17. How do I choose the right care provider?

The right care provider is one that can safely meet the level of support required and aligns with the individual’s needs, preferences and circumstances.

Ahaora Care Brokerage helps simplify this decision by identifying suitable CQC-registered care providers based on the information, preferences and requirements you share with us, and coordinating introductions so you can explore appropriate options and decide which provider feels right for you.

18. Do I have to pay Ahaora Care Brokerage to use the service?

No.

Using Ahaora Care Brokerage is free for individuals and families.

Care packages and pricing are agreed directly between you and the CQC-registered care provider you choose.

Our role is to help identify suitable providers and support the coordination and administrative organisation of privately arranged care.
